The Carefree School Days
When were studied in school we were full of random ideas of becoming Doctor , Engineer, Pilot, Politician at one go. We were young , energetic, carefree without load of responsibilities to think about and work upon. Our daily life used to juggle between School time of 8 To 2 PM .4 To 6 Sports and then if wee get some time and energy then we studied. This remained our routine till Class 9th.
The Hype of Peer Pressure of Class 10th Boards
As an average student I never got excellent marks but the peer pressure and my social circle expected me to score 90% as if I had Magic Wand to set things alright at one go . My Parents understood my condition well. They knew that I was always an average student so expecting Miracles may be too unfair for a student of my Capability. In most Practical and Pragmatic terms you cannot compare mediocre with genius or at least student with High Caliber.
The 10th Board Results and the Pandora Box of Career Options
I had scored 72% in my Pre Boards so parents and friends expected me to score at least 75 in Boards. But the results shocked everyone .I got only 62% . My Social Circle and the peer group advised me to take Science because it has huge career opportunities. I abhorred Maths , I took Humanities shifted to Delhi. Did exceptionally well during plus two.
The College and the Career Conundrum
I got admission in Kirorimal College Delhi University in History Hons which I did not like at all. After First Year I thought I made a wrong decision and started preparing for National Law Schools. I lost my seat in National Academy of Legal Studies and Research by 10 Marks and Gujrat National Law University by 10 Marks .I was heartbroken and felt dejected.
Dropping from Delhi University and Joining IHM Bombay from Hotel Management
This must be the weirdest choice I made out of Career Choices to study in IHM .Being purely from Academic Background , this was something very different I did .Fortunately, I was able to complete the course and get a good Job with IRCTC.
What Lesson Does this Story carries for Students who will Give their Board Exams and Pass out of College
Maintain proper clarity in choosing your stream of Learning , during student life we have some any diversions it is easy to be carried away. But it is also important to take important career related decisions. If you want to Study Science, Study, If you have affinity in Arts then take Arts. If you are interested in Commerce then take Commerce .Your choices made today will make your career tomorrow in the Field of Engineering, Medicine, Law , CA, CS, MBA etc. Have Clarity of thoughts while deciding on career making choices or consult a career counselor.
