The IPL 2024 title match, which is scheduled for May 26, will take place at Chepauk, making Chennai the host city for the first IPL final in twelve years. The defending IPL champion Chennai Super Kings call the MA Chidambaram Stadium, often known as the Chepauk, home. The IPL finals were held there in 2011 and 2012.
The first qualifier is scheduled for May 21 in Ahmedabad, while the eliminator is scheduled for May 22 in Ahmedabad. Chennai will also host the second qualifier on May 24.
The 52-match second half of the IPL calendar, which includes the playoffs, will go off in Chennai on April 8 when CSK takes on Kolkata Knight Riders. As usual, all playoff games will take place in the evening.
The 10 teams are split into two groups of five, just like in 2023. Every team plays the remaining team from the other group, chosen by a draw, twice in addition to playing the other four teams in their group twice and the other four teams in the other group once.
CSK is in the same group as the Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and 2022 IPL champions. The second group includes the Delhi Capitals, KKR, Lucknow Super Giants, Royals, and Mumbai Indians, five-time IPL champions.
There will be 11 double-header days in the 2024 league phase, two of which took place on the first weekend.
An first batch of 21 matches, from March 22 to April 7, was partially scheduled, according to an IPL statement from February 22. Since the Indian Premier League was awaiting the announcement of the dates of the nation’s general elections by the Election Commission of India, which have since been made public, a full schedule could not be released at that time. They will begin on April 19 and run for seven phases till June 1.
In addition to the ten teams’ primary home venues, the tournament will also visit Visakhapatnam, Dharamsala, and Guwahati, where the Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Rajasthan Royals will each host two games at their respective second homes. On May 19, the Royals and KKR will play their final league match of the season in Guwahati.
