LeBron James’ decisive steal and breakaway windmill slam to end the game against the outmatched Memphis Grizzlies on Friday was followed by taunting from LA Lakers standout Ja Morant. The latter was one of the 13 players that did not start for the Grizzlies in the game.

The kids gave James and Co. a serious game, and their hopes of defeating the inexperienced Grizzlies were all but gone. Although a blowout in favor of Los Angeles was anticipated, the Grizzlies maintained a close game for the entire forty-eight minutes.

Jake LaRavia and former Laker Scotty Pippen Jr. each scored 28 points. By the end of the third quarter, the Grizzlies had a nine-point lead. But from that point on, LeBron James willed the Lakers to victory.

Twelve of his thirty-seven points came in the fourth quarter. With five seconds remaining, James finished the game with four more free throws, a steal, and a windmill slam to give the Lakers a five-point lead.

With a 46-35 record, the Lakers briefly took over as the eighth seed. If the Warriors lose to the Pelicans and the Kings lose to the Kings on Friday, they might be able to hold onto it.
