Breaking Sunday

On Sunday, the New York Yankees made an announcement regarding the acquisition of Jake Cousins, a right-handed relief pitcher, from the Chicago White Sox.

The White Sox will be provided with monetary compensation as part of the agreement.

Prior to his trade, Cousins, aged 29, had not made an appearance for Chicago during the 2024 season. During his tenure with the Milwaukee Brewers, he recorded a total of nine appearances, resulting in seven strikeouts, 10 walks, and an ERA of 4.82 in 9.1 innings pitched.

In July, the Houston Astros claimed him from waivers, and he primarily played for the Triple-A Sugar Land Space Cowboys.

In 2021, cousins made a record-breaking 30 appearances. During his tenure with the Brewers, he recorded 44 strikeouts and a 2.70 ERA in 30 innings pitched, demonstrating his potential as a pitcher.

In December, Cousins entered into a minor-league agreement with Chicago.

The New York team has began the year 2024 with a robust performance, securing a 4-0 record against the Astros. The nature of Cousins’ function within the group remains ambiguous, but, he does provide them with an additional resource to utilize if necessary.
